F.A.Q.s About Certified RCB Instructor Training

What is the format of the course?
The Redirecting Children’s Behavior (RCB) training is a sixteen hour course that usually takes place over a weekend.

In addition, we believe it is imperative that you actually experience the principles we teach in order to make permanent changes in our behavior. We have found that teaching this way is not only more fun but also is more expedient. Therefore the course is chalked full of fun experiential teaching and role playing. No boring lectures!

What is the parenting philosophy we teach?
The principles are based on the philosophy of Dr. Alfred Adler and Dr. Rudolf Dreikurs. Recent research tells us that children are hardwired from birth to connect with others, and that children who feel connected to their family, community and school are less likely to misbehave. To be successful, children must learn necessary social and life skills. Some parenting programs teach parents how to stop unwanted behavior. But that is not enough. We must also teach and reinforce social and life skills. For example, it is not helpful to tell children to stop fighting if we haven’t taught them how to win/win negotiate or how to solve problems proactively.

Redirecting Children’s Behavior (RCB)is based on the knowledge that most of the “misbehavior” we see is our child trying to communicate an unmet need. Much time is spent teaching parents and educators how to teach children how to identify their needs and get them met appropriately.

RCB is a kind and firm approach to parenting. Rewards, bribes, threats, grounding, and timeouts are not used in this discipline. They are replaced by methods to deeply connect with your  child, giving responsibility, understanding feelings, problem solving, family meetings and much, much more.

Is it based on any religion?
No. But the principles are found in almost every religion.

Can you choose whether it’s part-time or full-time?
Yes. One of the biggest benefits of this job is that you are your own boss. You call the shots! You get to name your own hours.

Who becomes an instructor?
We have had over 750 people in 19 countries become instructors from all walks of life: teachers, housewives, pediatricians, therapists, ministers, etc.

What are the requirements to be an instructor?
You must complete the two-day instructor training.

What will I earn as an instructor?
RCB instructors are able to do their own pricing. Some instructors charge $75 a per person, some charge $495 per couple  and some do private classes for couples and charge $1495. There are no limits to the amount of money that you can make doing something you love.

If you are a coach or a public speaker, this career will give you more expertise for your career and will be an excellent source for clients.

What are the benefits?
RCB instructors report that teaching the course not only changes their clients lives but also transforms their personal relationships. These principles can be used in your marriage, at work, with friends and family. When you teach this course, it sharpens your relationship skills in ways that are incomprehensible.

Some parents feel that their current work pulls them away from their family. They often feel conflicted between work and family. As we mentioned before, you name your own hours so that you can have more time with your family and as a result, you will feel less conflicted. Teaching RCB strengths your parenting skills which makes you a parent and strengthens your family.

How easy is it to find clients who want to improve their parenting?

Very. How many people do you think need help with their parenting?

If we look at the population, it is infinite.  There is really never an end to people becoming parents.  And our Parenting Instructors enroll their clients everywhere.  For example, some enroll clients from dinner parties, their yoga studios, play places, or playgrounds. Other Parenting Instructors enroll their clients from parenting talks they give at businesses, libraries, corporations, schools, pre-schools, or daycares.

The possibilities are endless. As a RCB Instructor, you are always encountering other parents, so it is a very abundant market.

Do I have to rent an office?
No. Most instructors are hired by organizations to teach the course at their location or they develop an alliance with a business that wants to promote healthy parenting style i.e. preschools, dental offices and pediatrician  offices.
