For teachers dealing with disrespectful children...
Redirecting
for a Cooperative Classroom (RCC) is a dynamic course with the goal of teacher and
student empowerment. It supports teachers in creating a classroom atmosphere which
promotes high self-esteem. Attempting to simply control disrespectful children and
their students' behavior is not effective. It is through teaching students how to
make decisions, cooperate and be responsible that they will learn and grow. The
RCC course and materials are contagious, fun and effective, and will assist both
teachers and students in the classroom... More
For future instructors dealing with disrespectful children...
The Parent Instructor Network Training (PINT) is an intensive, personal training
that will certify you to teach the popular Redirecting Children's Behavior parent

Challenges Facing Children and Families:
The average child in America receives only 12.5 minutes per day in communication
with his/her parents. On the average a child receives 400 negative comments compared
to only 32 positive comments per day. In a study of children ages 1-12, the single
most important determinant of children's self-esteem is the perception of how much
they are valued by their parents.
Do You Recognize One of These Children?
- A Teenager who breaks the rules
- A Toddler who demands all of your attention
- Siblings who fight
- The Bully who pushes others around
- The Whining Child who says "I CAN'T"
- A Child wanting to be the Center of Attention

adult/child relationships can make parenting a lot more fun. INCAF (the International
Network for Children and Families) offers the "Redirecting Children's Behavior"
course to deal with the stresses in today's family.

A Democratic Approach
In our fast-paced society, adults and children spend much of their time in separate
environments. We all want to make the most of the time we have together, however,
it can become difficult for us to give of ourselves or get what we want from our
relationships.
You can have the kind of relationship with your children you have dreamed of, and
you can help them develop skills to become loving, motivated and successful adults.

Common Ground: For Parents of Teens
|
The Goal of Common Ground
Common Ground is a course for creating COOPERATION and MUTUAL RESPECT between parents
and their teens. We all want close, loving and empowering families. During the teenage
years, the teen's need to pull away and become independent, often conflicts with
the parent's need to stay close. When this happens, we often experience the "gap."
The frustrations for both parents and teens often result in distance, confusion,
uncertainty and power struggles.
|
"This course is a refreshing and effective
approach to bridging the gap between parents and teens. It offers relief to the
frustrations inherent in families and gives parents hope and teens a voice. It truly
establishes common ground!"
- Dr. Jane Bluestein author, Parents, Teens & Boundaries
|
Every generation experiences the "gap". It was as true in ancient Greece as it is
today. We believe that teens and parents have many areas in common and that it is
possible to bridge the gap. Finding comon ground may require shifts in perception,
a slowing down to listen to each other, the learning of valuable skills to keep
lines of communication open, or simply taking the time to get to know the changing
personalities of each other.
Magic is what this course is about. Not sleight of hand, pull-the-rabbit-out-of-the-hat
magic, but the magic that happens when people from different worlds and perceptions
begin to cherish each other and join together for a unified goal.
If this is what you are looking for, this course is for you!

How is This Course Different From Other Parenting Courses?
|
"Building high self-esteem and improving
communications are vital to healthy family relationships. The Common Ground course
provides priceless information and techniques to help teens and their parents understand,
support and unconditionally love each other even during the difficult times."
- Jack Canfield author, Chicken Soup for the Soul
|
The biggest difference is that parents and teens attend the course sessions together.
At some point in each class session, teens and parents will be in a session together
to practice the skills taught in the breakout sessions.
It is important to note that the skills learned transfer to all relationships...teens
with their peers, their boyfriends or girlfriends...adults with their peers, their
spousal relationships, and their co-workers.
The course was developed through the assistance of focus groups of parents and teens,
and teens assisted with the pilot course. The course is taught by two highly trained
instructors, at least one of whom is a certified Redirecting Children's Behavior
instructor. Teens are also trained to assist with these courses.
How the Course Unfolds
The format for this course is usually held for two and one-half hours over six weeks.
Parents and teens practice hands-on techniques through role-playing and group interaction.
Every week each participant takes home an assignment to practice and journal work
to complete in their own individual handbooks.
